OLDHAM ARTS FESTIVAL
CITY FOREVER
PLAYHOUSE 2 YOUTH
Written & directed by Miranda Parker
1853 Studios - Mill 2
SATURDAY 23rd AUGUST
7:30pm
Set in 1960s, City Forever follows a 16-year-old, Bobby, who's just finished his exams and is facing a tough choice. With factory life looming and money tight at home, he's desperate for something more meaningful - something that makes him feel alive. Drawn to the thrill and danger of a local loan shark gang that once had ties to his late father, Bobby finds himself town between loyalty, ambition, and escape. A gritty coming-of-age tale about dreams, identity, and how football can be more than just a game - it can be a lifeline.

PLAYHOUSE 2 YOUTH
PH2Youth was found in January 2014 by Catherine Sharp, Elaine Rosebury and Peter Rosebury. The first youth theatre facilitators were Becky Proudfoot and Matt Baker. Imogen Brown took over in autumn 2017 and Clare Bennett started in Autumn 2021. Their current drama facilitator is the very talented and experienced Miranda Parker.
They currently cater for three age groups (6-9, 10-13, 14-18), with one session for each age group on Saturday mornings. Workshops run termly and each term consists of 10 workshops with a showback on week 10 when we invite families and friends to watch a short presentation of what the students have been working on. Within a short space of time our numbers have increased rapidly and there is now a waiting list for some age groups.
